What is a Game Convention?
Most people have spent time at some point in our lives with family or friends playing games like Monopoly, Life, Uno, Scrabble, or a host of other classic games. Some enjoy the social aspects of playing games. Others play games because they like competition and strategizing. Whatever reason for playing a game, setting up a game on the kitchen table is something familiar to just about everyone.

A game convention is the same concept, but on a much larger scale. Instead of a kitchen table, there are typically a dozen or more tables set up in a large room such as a conference room. And while classic games often find their way into a convention, there are literally hundreds of other board games, card games, and other styles of games that people gather to play. Those who attend the conventions often travel from around the region to attend, and make it a weekend vacation.

A convention is a great place to play games all day for a whole weekend. It's a fun and super convenient way to be introduced to dozens of new games and to get a chance to play them, and often there are vendors from gaming stores who sell the games on site for those who find a game they like and want to buy. Meet new people while playing games, and even make a few new friends.
